Aside from Taylor Swift, Who Holidays in Hawaii?

Posted on Tuesday, 27 January 2015

Taylor Swift's recent pictures of her and her friends in Maui, Hawaii, have raised the tropical islands' profile yet again.

But aside from pop stars and their buddies, what other types of people frequent these sun-baked Pacific islands? Here we take a look...

Windsurfers

Hawaii gave the world windsurfing, so it's no surprise that the state still has some of the best windsurfing conditions on the planet. And while it's a great place for experienced windsurfers, Hawaii also boasts numerous good quality windsurfing schools for those new to the sport.

Marine biologists (and marine enthusiasts)

The waters around the islands of Hawaii are bursting with marine life. From stunning corals and colourful fish off Papohaku Beach on Molokai, to leaping dolphins in Hulopoe Bay on Lanai – this state is un-missable for marine biologists across the world, as well as holidaymakers with a love for underwater creatures.

Volcanologists

Whether you simply love the primal power of volcanoes, or whether you're a budding volcanologist, Hawaii is the perfect place for lava lovers everywhere. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on Hawaii Island has been attracting such folk for decades, with the awe-inspiring Kilauea volcano (one of the most active volcanoes on earth) providing the main focal point.

Beach lovers and Party Animals

But Hawaii is also a great place for those who prefer lounging on the beach – as Taylor Swift's holiday snaps demonstrated. After soaking up the rays on the famous Wakiki Beach on Oahu, sun worshippers can turn their attention Honolulu's effervescent nightlife.

Of course, there's no reason why a trip to Hawaii can't feature all of these activities. But if you're a windsurfing, volcano-loving, beachcombing marine biologist, you should probably get a travel insurance quote today, protecting yourself against any mishaps!
