Travel Insurance for Greece

Posted on Tuesday, 24 October 2023

With our love for sun drenched beaches, ancient sites and a delicious mezze, the Greek tourism industry is booming.

Over 3 million visitors from the UK visited Greece in 2022, with the Greek tourism minister hailing visitor numbers as “fantastic”,

Whether you’re looking to immerse yourself in cultural sightseeing at one of the 18 UNESCO Heritage sites scattered across Greece or simply enjoy lazy long summer days, Greece could be the perfect destination for you.

No matter what your ideal Greek getaway entails, before packing those bags and heading off to the cradle of western civilisation, don’t forget to arrange your holiday insurance for Greece!

Athens, Greece

Visiting the Greek mainland

Naturally, one of the biggest draws for visitors to the Greek mainland is the country’s capital, Athens.

With over 3,000 years of history, Athens is the ideal destination if you love cultural sightseeing.

Unfortunately, the lure the historical sights has upon tourists does mean that pickpocketing is not rare in Athens. The Metro line between Athens and Athens International Airport is popular with thieves on the lookout for newly-arrived tourists and passports are often stolen, so it is important to ensure that you have appropriate travel insurance for Athens arranged.

Away from the capital, the Greek mainland offers an array of attractive towns, possibly less heard of, which are ideal for a relaxing holiday, such as the coastal resorts of Parga and Stoupa.

Annual Multi-trip policies

If you plan on travelling to Europe more than once in a year, you may benefit from purchasing an annual European travel insurance policy.

Planning additional trips further afield? Then it’s worth considering whether a Worldwide Annual Mutli-trip policy may better suit your needs.

A single trip policy may be ideal if you are planning just one trip within a year.

Your single trip policy can be arranged to cover you for a trip that includes just one country, or, if required, more than one country if you will be arranging a twin centre holiday or intend visiting various countries during your trip.

To determine the category of insurance you will need, just check which insurance zones (Europe 1 or 2 for example) include the countries you intend to visit.
