It’s little wonder 43% of Dutch people take at least one cycle trip a day.

Then there are the views.

Despite being a densely populated country, there are still lots of tranquil areas to enjoy, including coastal routes, canals and country lanes. See evocative windmills, lighthouses and historic towns as you zip along.

Dutch bike tours: Should I rent or bring my own?

If you're planning to cycle for more than a week, it may well be cheaper to bring your own bike from the UK (compared to renting). This is an especially logical choice if you're travelling to the Netherlands in your car, caravan or motorhome. However, you’re never far from a bike rental shop, if you plan to arrive and explore by public transport.

Wondering about the best Netherlands cycling routes? Below are 10 of the top bike paths in the Netherlands.
