Wizz Air UK begins 6 new routes to Portugal, Israel, Hungary & Romania

Wizz Air has begun operating six new routes from three UK airports - London Luton, Doncaster-Sheffield and Liverpool.

From Luton Britons can enjoy Lisbon, the Portuguese capital and the Israeli beach resort of Eilat; while from Doncaster-Sheffield they can fly to Budapest, the Hungarian capital; and from Liverpool they can fly into three exciting Romanian cities: Cluj-Napoca, Bucharest and Iași.

The new routes are the first to be operated under the Wizz Air UK company name - and under its all-new W9 IATA code. Wizz Air UK is a wholly-owned British-based and British-licensed subsidiary of Wizz Air.

In recent times, Wizz Air has been keen to expand its UK operations, despite uncertainty over Brexit. So far this year, the airline has opened 19 new routes connecting UK airports to overseas destinations.

Indeed, six million passengers have flown with Wizz Air on its 83 UK routes - which fly to no less than 26 countries.

But the Hungarian-based carrier is not only opening up new routes from UK airports - it has bought five brand new Airbus A320 planes and four A321s.

Owain Jones, managing director, Wizz Air UK, said: “The new routes increase the many options to travel on one of Europe's youngest and most efficient aircraft fleets to both vibrant international cities and genuinely undiscovered gems and we look forward to welcoming customers onboard to experience Wizz Air's great service.”

Eliat Beach Resort

For beach lovers, the Israeli beach resort of Eilat will be one of the more exciting new routes - especially among those seeking some winter sun. November highs reach an impressive 28 degrees, while in December the mercury hits 23 degrees. Liverpudlians will be delighted.

Lisbon

If Israel seems a little far, then the Portuguese capital of Lisbon could be a great alternative, with great beaches a short train ride away. Winter temperatures aren't as impressive as those in Eilat, but with January highs of 15 degrees, they are still far more palatable than those of the UK at that time of year. Lutonians will, no doubt, also be glad of the new route.
